700% expected growth and unique niche attracts investors despite down economy
Patina Solutions, a unique professional services firm that provides seasoned professionals on a flexible basis to help companies achieve their business objectives, has successfully raised $1.5 million to support its growth – including the opening of an office in Boston, Mass. This third round of funding for the company was officially closed at the end of 2009.
“Patina’s story, results and plans resonated very well with angel investors, even in these still difficult economic times,” said Mike Harris, co-founder and CEO of Patina Solutions. “Patina now has almost 50 individual investors from several states including Wis., Ill., Mich. and Ohio. We are continuing to grow and are expecting a 700% increase in sales from 2009 to 2010.”
Headquartered in the Milwaukee area, Patina has offices in Chicago and Cleveland – making Boston its fourth office location opened since the company’s inception at the end of 2008. Patina boasts more than 500 talented Professionals in its Portfolio of Talent and plans to expand nationwide over the next five years.
Patina’s ability to attract investors and expand operations is largely due to its unique niche of providing flexible workforce solutions and baby boomer expertise to clients. This is a significant offering given that many employers are hesitant to hire additional staff, and the aging baby boomer workforce is transitioning into retirement and looking for flexible work options. |

Leveraging Your Seasoned Employees By: Joan Lloyd
"Lately, I've been hearing an interesting theme, as I network among friends and colleagues. In a recent conversation with a friend, she was lamenting the fact that so many baby boomers were retiring at her company, those who remained were scrambling to fill the gaps. "And so many of them are leaving with valuable years of experience, all that knowledge is walking out the door with them.""
