Demographers predict that the demand for workers will continue to grow as the baby boomer workforce retires and is not completely replaced.
> By 2015, one in five workers will be 55 or older which will result in a critical shortage of qualified workers unless companies can figure out how to best utilize this valuable segment of the workforce.
> AARP's research shows that 80% of baby boomers plan to work at least part-time after they retire from traditional employment. The primary reasons cited for this are to supplement social security and/or retirement savings and to have a way of staying productive, relevant and active. Five percent anticipate working full-time and only 16% say they will not work at all.
> Baby boomer retirement rates will be the most dramatic between 2008 and 2018. By 2018, all but the youngest baby boomers will be of retirement age.
