The healthcare industry is going through dramatic changes and with that comes organizational challenges with high growth and transition. A Solucient Top 100 hospital recently promoted several Physicians, Nurses and Staff to more senior level leadership roles. Although the hospital had its own development programs in place with internal mentors and coaches, the facility saw the value in having access to external leaders. They looked to Patina for access to outside senior experts with experience targeted for each new leader.
The hospital launched a three-month pilot program of Patina’s Coaching and Mentoring on Demand Solution (CAMEO) for five of its newest female leaders. The pilot program was designed to provide access to other accomplished women in healthcare to help them face the challenges of a dynamic hospital environment. Using CAMEO’s technology-enabled platform, participants were able to choose their own mentors and coaches to best fit their needs. The program set up bi-weekly sessions to keep the participants focused and progressing on their individual goals.
Patina’s three-month CAMEO solution is providing a comprehensive approach to helping five new leaders grow and deliver increased value and performance to the organization. Successful coaching is enabling both the individuals and their teams to achieve their respective, customized goals while allowing the leaders to assume accountability and responsibilities for the development of their teams. Allowing external leaders to come in also provides mentorship without organizational biases repercussions. The success of the pilot program is a key in determining whether a larger program for mid and senior-level leaders across the hospital network will be implemented.
